About Estate Forage
Independent. Operator-run. Written for the people who actually attend estate sales.
Our story
Estate Forage was started by a small team of dealers, designers, and family executors who shared one frustration: the existing online estate-sale directories were optimized for the listing services that paid for top placement, not for the buyers actually trying to find a sale near them on a Saturday morning. Sales would appear on three different sites with three different sets of details. Out-of-date listings would clutter the front page. Photo galleries would load slowly or not at all. And the contact information for the actual estate liquidator running the sale was, more often than not, hidden behind a registration wall.
We set out to fix that with a searchable directory of household estate sales and on-site liquidation auctions. What launched, however, was a preview edition built entirely on illustrative sample listings and sample liquidator profiles — placeholder data meant to demonstrate the site’s design before real, verified listings replaced it.
Notice: the sample directory has been removed
That preview directory — the sale listings, the liquidator company profiles, and the category, city, and state browse pages built around them — has been taken down. On review, the underlying sample data contained internal inconsistencies (mismatched ZIP codes and states, a single small pool of “liquidator” companies credited on hundreds of unrelated sales nationwide, and other signs of placeholder generation) that made it unsuitable to keep live even with a sample-data disclosure attached. We would rather run a smaller, honest site than a large one built on data we can’t stand behind.
What remains on Estate Forage is the general-interest editorial content: our how-it-works explainer, buyer’s guide, pricing guide, and FAQ. None of that content depended on the sample listings, and none of it claims to describe any specific real sale, address, or company.
