How we organize categories
Estate sales are inherently chaotic — a single household can contain anything from 18th-century English silver to a basement workshop full of vintage Stanley planes to a closet of 1960s couture. Rather than force every sale into a single label, our directory tags each listing with every category the liquidator has confirmed is materially represented in the inventory.
That means a single sale can appear under Antique Furniture, Sterling Silver, and Fine Jewelry if all three are present in meaningful quantity. Our category filters then return every sale that includes the specific tag, ranked by how soon the sale opens to the public.
If you’re hunting a specific category, the first day of any sale is critical for small high-value items — jewelry, coins, sterling flatware, signed art, and rare books typically sell within the opening hour. Larger items in categories like Antique Furniture, Mid-Century Modern, Hand-Knotted Rugs, and Estate Vehicles generally remain available throughout the sale weekend, often with significant discounts on the final day.
